'A Brave Soul'
These images feature artwork from my competition entry to the Whitby Lobster Hatchery's annual calendar competition. I am delighted that it was chosen to be November in their 2026 Calendar!
The brief was quite literally anything lobster-themed. I wanted to challenge myself by drawing and carving a creature I hadn't drawn before! This was completed on a bit of a time crunch, but I am satisfied with how it turned out. I now have a new fondness for the crustaceans as well, and am looking forward to potentially visiting the Hatchery with the family voucher I received as part of landing a calendar spot! (I was really looking forward to the Lobster merch!)
The calendar is A4 folded and A3 opened, and features some wonderfully diverse artwork from some very talented individuals. It would definitely make an interesting and useful Christmas gift! All proceeds help to support Whitby Lobster Hatchery's mission to help protect the Lobster population in the North Sea.
This carving took about 3-4 days and is A4-sized.
